Oxite on MIX Online

oxite

We released a new project today named Oxite:

Oxite is “an open source, standards compliant, and highly extensible content management platform that can run anything from blogs to big web sites.” Duncan Mackenzie’s team of web ninjas worked feverishly on taking the MIX Online code base and making it available to all of our users! We now provide an easy way for agencies, web developers, and web designers to build standards-based applications on our platform. Microsoft has been knocked in the past for our tools and technologies not easily enabling standards-based applications. This gives us an opportunity to highlight our platform and great enabling technologies such as ASP.NET MVC to build compliant applications. Even better, we give them the code (via CodePlex) to do as they wish or they can contribute to the project; they also are able to see a real-world example via MIX Online. You can also check out video interviews with Duncan’s team on how it all came together. Read about it here and download it from here.

Help us spread the word by blogging, Tweeting, Plurking, and letting folks know about MIX Online. Also, don’t forget to register for MIX09!

Over the coming months I’ll be working with my fellow members of the Oxite team to implement and use Oxite, and I’ll — hopefully — be able to provide some guidance as we get ramped up.  This has the potential to be a really killer application, and I’m excited for our team and the users of Oxite.  Stay tuned.
